[edit] A Little Disclaimer

I am a chemist by trade, living out my retirement by working for the University of Texas at San Antonio, USA. Although I am employed by the University System, all comments, information, and opinions are strictly my own and in no way represent those of my employer. My apologies, but this is part of my terms of employment.

[edit] What is a Norm Reitzel

My background is as an electrical engineer, though I had a chemistry minor and was always an avid Don Herbert fan. Later on in life, I collected my chemistry degree, and studied chemical engineering processes while working as a design engineer. I would describe my expertise as motley. I'm pleased to be able to contribute to Wikipedia, as in some small way it means that not all of what I have learned will be lost with my death.

[edit] An Epiphany

Has it occured to anyone else that Wikipedia in fact represents quintessential communism, as it was envisioned by Marx? "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." I find this both amusing and a little frightening, as this applies to the growing vast field of "open" projects. I sometimes wonder what Stallman thinks of this, although he tends to be pedantic about such things. Personally, I never let principle get in the way of practicality -- that being the engineer in me talking.
