I sort of forgot something...

Say I'd like to create an article on a Hannah Montana episode, what would I need to start it to follow under that one guideline I can't remember? Something about needing 8 cites I think. I think "Don't Stop 'Til You Get the Phone" could be created like the article "Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas". I'm sort of new on making articles and what the guidelines for it are. --ZSoraz 01:52, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

I think it will be under the Rock Block and cover both the Cory in the House and Hannah Montana episode. You can probably start an article using what you know and a template from other episodes. The episode will probably get redirected back to the episode list if you don't have some real world reliable commentary ABOUT the episode such as some news paper critique and rating information. I like episode pages and think they add to the whole but I am in a minority and other editors are really picky about following the WP:EPISODE guidelines. --NrDg 02:11, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
I know how that is. I love episode pages too. Anyway, I think I will start a Rock Block page. Good idea, like Wish Gone Amiss and Achy Jakey Heart. So as long I get alot of info such as the episode writers and guest stars and ratings, I can post it? --ZSoraz 02:16, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
You might need more than just rating info, unfortunately. Writer, director and ratings already have a spot in the episode list. What people are really looking for is reviews by some major paper, discussion of why The Rock was doing this stunt casting gig, any discussion ABOUT the episode is really needed. We can put a lot of stuff in the episode list. Things that can be formally referenced really create a solid foundation for Notablilty. Give it a go and good luck. --NrDg 02:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Hello

I didn't revert the "independent" to Independent changes, because of all the crap edits made, those were actually correct, oddly enough :). No worries though, thanks for reverting the rest. Take Care and Have a Good Weekend...NeutralHomer T:C 02:02, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't know enough about all the subjects hit and don't trust anything he touched. Figured it would be better to just go back to something known to be good and hope the good changes would filter back in. --NrDg 02:05, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
No worries :) I can go in and re-edit those couple pages with the "Independent" wikilink. Most of the time though, I am with you, I revert everything, especially if it is in a section of the country I don't know about. Many thanks for reverting though, I (and everyone at WP:TVS) appericates it. Take Care...NeutralHomer T:C 02:11, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Ray Daudani

Ray Daudani is now a reporter in Baltimore. Why do you keep changing it back and say the information is vandalism?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.153.161.189 (talk • contribs) 02:20, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I was cleaning up after a known inserter of false information and I am not familiar enough with the subject to tell the good from the bad. Please put back the stuff I mistakenly removed. Thanks. --NrDg 02:25, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Disney Channel Template

I thought we weren't supposed to add shows to the template unless it was 15-30 days before airing, maybe its just a mistake, please respond. Thanks! --Yankeesrj12 23:36, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm not aware of that rule, I would appreciate a pointer. I don't have a problem with removing content in general if there is a good reason, mostly just that you didn't explain in the edit summary why you removed it. I think, however, that since there is a page for that show, that the template's pointing to it is OK. I think you should leave it in, no harm that I can see if you do, unless there is some content guideline or policy that justifies removing it. --NrDg 23:49, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
I have no problem with it, I was just saying. --Yankeesrj12 01:21, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

The Rock

I don't think The Rock should be included as an acquaintance of Hannah (List of Hannah Montana minor characters), since she wasn't using her alias, but then again could we call him an acquaintance of Miley's? --ZSoraz 05:15, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

I agree. --NrDg 13:00, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Wizards Episodes

The only reason I deleted the info is because it is on no other Disney Series, and shouldnt be on this. --Yankeesrj12 17:43, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Check List of Hannah Montana episodes which is a Disney Series. When the episode pages were removed this was the only way to get some of the information in those pages back in. It seems to be working there. If you can justify individual episode pages for "Wizards" it won't be needed. Very hard to do as there is unlikely to be any real world notability of the individual episodes. --NrDg 17:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Hannah/Miley album article

I was just wondering. You mentioned that Billboard.com cites the article as being certified 3x platinum with the source pointing here. However, the album has a '2' next to the triangle, indicating that it is 2x platinum. Unless I'm missing something, could you please verify where you got the info on 3x platinum? Dh993 02:15, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hover your mouse over the triangle icon for an explanation. For platinum you just see the triangle. The number after the triangle is the ADDITIONAL platinums past the first. That means platinum is just the triangle. A triangle with a 1 is double platinum, a triangle with a 2 is triple platinum. It took me a bit to figure out what was going on. I saw in a web article that Miley was celebrating the latest album going triple platinum, so looked into this. Also sales of 1.5 million double albums counts as 3 million units for RIAA certification purposes so it all checks out as triple platinum. --NrDg 02:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification, and I will be sure to enforce that in the future! Dh993 03:06, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hmm....

Do you think we should keep such section articles like Quotes in Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas? I know Trivia is discouraged, though still accepted under few circumstances, but I think that they say that we should put quotes on wiki-quote right? --ZSoraz 04:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Quotes definitely don't belong, trivia is supposed to be temporary and is essentially a to-do list of things that need to be either discarded or integrated in the main article. http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Hannah_Montana is the place for quotes.--NrDg 13:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

HSM 3 Dilemma

Hi. I am aware that I forgot to cite my sources, but I don't know how. I saw it in People Magazine. It is true that Vanessa is being replaced by Adrienne and i'm happy!! Adrienne is so much better than Vanessa. She don't get nude in front of cameras! Quefuedelamor12569 00:02, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Since that conflicts with every other reference that is on the net that I've seen, you need to cite the source and you can't remove the other conflicting references. See WP:REF for info on how to to cites or just put <ref>url of web page</ref>after your information. --NrDg 00:10, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the tip on citing stuff. I had read that somewhere, I'll find it and put it up there. Sorry about that, but thanks for catchin it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chiosu (talkcontribs) 21:46, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

WIZARD OF WAVERLY PLACE EPISODES

Could we at least get rid of the production code, how is that usueful? --Yankeesrj12 02:15, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

The reason for the production code is that it shows the shooting order of the episodes as opposed to the broadcast order. The production code would serve no purpose if Disney broadcast shows in the proper order, which they don't. Some people (me for example), like to see the shows in the order the writers designed and find the production codes useful for replaying episodes taped. Most lists of episodes have the production code, it is a named field in the template, so it is kind of standard to use it. Major problem is determining what the production code is. Only real source that is trusted is U.S Copyright Office and it lags a lot. TV.com is what people use until we get better info. --NrDg 02:25, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Wondering...

"There is going to be an episode called "Lilly's Mom Has Got It Going On!" where Lilly's Mom falls in love with Robby." I was wondering what you might think of this line used from Section "Notes" in Article List of Hannah Montana Episodes. You of course remember that Lilly talked about her Dad's back in I Want You to Want Me ... To Go to Florida; should we get rid of this line since it seems Disney wouldn't air an episode that conflicts these two facts, or should it be kept for some reason (possibly because it really is discussed or portrayed in Disney Adventures; I don't read it. lol)? --ZSoraz 06:56, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

I think we should just leave it as is. It would be better if all the facts stated in the notes section had a more detailed cite but the TV Guide info is generally accepted as true. As for the supposed conflict, it is either a continuity error, or, much more likely, Lilly's parents will be revealed to be divorced. --NrDg 13:17, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree. Was going to remove it but you got to it first. Wasn't trying for a block, just a change. I think I understand the policy better now and will just bring it to the user's attention. --NrDg 17:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

STOP

I have done NOTHING to the "It's a Laugh Productions, Inc." article anymore, so why are you still after me? I've never met anyone more infuriating than you; STOP REVERTING WHAT'S ON MY USERPAGE. What, watching my page 24/7? Idiot. Leave my page alone. I know tons of others who remove warnings off their pages. They are simply WARNINGS.

- Yours truly, Superior(talk) 17:51, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

The last warning was for edits you made after the first warning. If you now understand the policy on original research, great. I have no other issues. Please continue to contribute to that article as you are able within the bounds of wikipedia policy. Your contribution are appreciated.
I watch all talk pages I edit so that I can watch for replies. Usually for about a week or so. Removing warnings looks like an attempt to mask the level of warning for future warnings. WP:UW recommendations have 4 levels and it looks like trying to game the system to remove them too fast as it hides the last level. Most people archive their talk pages to clear them out, removing comments completely is generally not considered polite. Calling me names, threats and demands are not productive ways of modifying my or anybody's behavior. If you have a disagreement it is best to just use the talk pages to discuss it. I really am trying to be helpful. --NrDg 18:08, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

okay dude/dudette

let us sort things out. First off, what I deleted in the article should not be in the article, period. Second the thing in the "Talk" part of it, I wrote. Maybe I wrote it at school on a school computer, but I wrote it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.226.61 (talk) 18:39, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Talk pages are supposed to be a history of conversations about the article, you are not supposed to edit other people's comments at all. You can delete stuff that isn't about the article, but that is it. And how is anyone supposed to know that that you are the same person posting as different identities? You need to leave old stuff alone and add to it, even if it is your own stuff. --NrDg 18:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
okay I apologize for that. but what about the main article, that should not be there, period. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.226.61 (talkcontribs) 18:50, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Discuss it in the talk page if you think it will be contentious. Discuss calmly, avoid anger and profanity and give reasons. If you think the main article blatantly has stuff that doesn't belong, delete it and give your reasons in the edit summary. If you don't put your reason in the edit summary your deletion may look like vandalism. Use the talk page for any discussion if people don't agree. Don't forget to sign any talk page comments with four ~ characters. --NrDg 19:03, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

QUESTION

Hey NrDg,

This message concerns Disney Channel Original Series and Disney Channel Original Movies

I have noticed that you and I always seem to be undoing stuff in both of the articles and delteing all of the unsourced things. I have also noticed that is all people that do not have user names. So I was thinking should we put a protect thing on the page? I was just wondering so we could cut down on all of the un-needed things. Please get back to me ASAP. --Yankeesrj12 22:34, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

You can request an admin to semi-protect it if there is a lot of vandalism by different IPs. Go to WP:RPP and follow the instructions on the page. Admins are a bit stingy with the protects, though. They want to see a lot by a lot of different IPs. I usually get told to suck it up and just revert and warn/report the vandals. See WP:AIV. --NrDg 22:49, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Roxy (Hannah Montana)

Someone moved that page to another with an alleged last name. The rationale was "Because I love that name." Since I don't have Disney Channel any more and you seem to be knowledgable about this, could you tell me whether it is vandalism? If it is, I'll move it back. bibliomaniac15 00:30, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

It is a bogus last name. Roxy's last name has never been mentioned on the show. I'd appreciate it if you could put things back to what is was before. A redirect on "Roxy DeLizes" is not needed either as the editor just invented this name from whole cloth. --NrDg 00:54, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Ryan Newman (actress)

"Removed replaceable images. No fair use possible for copyrighted images of real people, Free replacements are always possible." --NrDg 13:30, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Can you explain to me how a picture of a character she played in Zoom (film) and a computer generated image from Monster House (film) qualifies as an image of a "real person"? Ospinad 18:22, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Images from copyrighted sources can be used only for critical commentary about those sources, in other words they can only be used in the articles you mentioned, no where else. No free images will ever be available so fair use is permitted. For a real person free images are always possible so copyright images can't ever be used. See WP:FU specifically policy point 1. This is wikipedia policy that conforms to copyright law in Florida where wiki has its servers, I didn't just make this up. --NrDg 18:29, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I thought you were saying these were pictures of real people and so therefore were replaceable by free images. So, basically we are not allowed to put in an actor's article a picture of a character from a movie that they played? Ospinad 18:41, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Exactly, that is what Wiki copyright rules require. Basically the only picture that can be used to illustrate a real person is a candid picture released by the photographer as free with no restrictions on its use. This is a pretty restrictive rule. --NrDg 22:01, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I still don't get it. We are only allowed to use free pictures to illustrate real people, I get that part. But pictures from movies aren't pictures of "real people" they are pictures of fictional characters from movies. So why can't we use pictures like that to illustrate a character they played? If it's not used to illustrate the actual person then it should be ok, right? Ospinad 12:27, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
You CAN use them to illustrate a character they played but only in an article about that named character or in an article about the movie that character was in, just not in an article about the actor. Character pictures are alway copyrighted so fair use is the only way to include them. Person pictures always have the possibility of a free picture being available or becoming available so fair use is not possible for copyrighted pictures of that person when used in an article about that person. --NrDg 13:50, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
ok, so actually I can use those two pictures in other articles just not in this one. So why delete them? Ospinad 19:28, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
(indents are getting crazy). You don't need to delete them if you are actually using the images appropriately in those article. What you do need to do is place a fair use justification for EACH article that image is used in on the image page. With the appropriate fair use justification, the images can stay. See Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guidelines for what is needed and Image:Roxyfrances.jpg for an example of how it is used. --NrDg 19:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

ok, so I'll remove the tags (which I thought were misplaced anyway) so the pictures won't get deleted then add them to the right articles later. Ospinad 20:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Just make sure that you put in the fair use justifications before you remove the tags. Removing the tags without justification will get the image challenged again. The justification is really important. It is also best to get the image in the proper article pretty quickly or the image may be deleted by a bot as being orphaned. --NrDg 20:51, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for making a report about Tsomas214 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again.

Kind regards,

I thought I understood the rule, I just thought that 8 hours counted as recent enough. I have been going by within a day of the final warning as being "recent". --NrDg 22:06, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Username report for Roz Abrams

You requested that User:RozAbrams.WABC.Ch 7 be blocked for impersonating the moderately-notable person Roz Abrams.

I think a block would be completely out of line, because there's a good chance that the user really is Roz Abrams, and they haven't made any edits that involve impersonation. Please try other steps of the username policy, such as talking to the user, before going straight to UAA. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 18:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm having trouble putting the reference in...

I was going to put a reference to Aly & AJ discography but I don't know how to do that. Could you tell me how? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chemicalsreact151 (talkcontribs) 00:12, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Moved conversation to User talk:Chemicalsreact151. I have that page on my watchlist so please continue interaction there. Thanks, --NrDg 00:26, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
