I'm not sure. Hope is also an English female name, but if an American spacecraft was named Hope we probably wouldn't mention the female name. -- Curps 17:59, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The article states:

It was constructed by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, University of Tokyo

At that time, ISAS was not part of U Tokyo anymore. Was there a major involvement of U Tokyo? --Fukumoto 15:08, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
