“Now Who’s the Dummy?” is the ninety-sixth episode of the FOX animated comedy King of the Hill.
[edit] Plot
Bobby sings at a retirement home and impresses a retired ventriloquist (Tom Poston) who bequeaths Bobby his dummy, Chip Block. Bobby practices ventriloquism, and at first, this disappoints Hank, as usual. However, Bobby then studies sports heavily and gives Chip a very knowledgeable sports-themed act. This makes Hank like Chip—unfortunately, more than he likes Bobby.
Meanwhile, Dale has flashbacks to a traumatic childhood incident in which he was scared by a Chip Block replica. Dale plots with Octavio to assassinate Bobby’s Chip, tracking Bobby and Chip, buying chloroform, duct tape, and a bandana to capture Chip, and finally feeding Chip into a woodchipper.
Hank starts to design a new and improved Chip, but he speaks of it as though he’s building the son he always wished he’d had. Bobby gets depressed, so Peggy tells Hank off. Hank finally understands, and surprises Bobby by unveiling a new Chip that looks just like Bobby.
[edit] Continuity
Dale's father, in this episode, looks and sounds like Dale much like he did in The Order of the Straight Arrow (and smokes as well), although in the future episode My Own Private Rodeo, he looks completely different and has a different voice.
