Novorapid is a bolus insulin analogue created by Novo Nordisk. It is of rDNA origin. It is sold under the name 'Novolog' in the United States.
It has become a widely-used replacement for the now defunct Actrapid insulin,[citation needed] as it has very similar properties. One problem with this insulin though is that it has to be administered in double the quantity that Actrapid was,[citation needed] although this is only a small problem.
It has a reaction time of around 25–35 minutes, depending on the physical size of the person taking it. This means it is known as "fast-acting".
