  • The 2nd summit of ACMECS ends successfully. The agreements between five member countries include many area of cooperation. Thailand has also pledged to contribute 100 million Baht (2.5 million US dollar) to a regional fund on combating H5N1. The 3rd summit will be held in Vietnam in 2007. (TNA)
  • South Thailand insurgency: The Fourth Army Area Commander announces that martial law has been applied in the districts of Chana and Thepha of Songkhla province as the insurgents have attempted to expand the target territory to these districts which border three troubled provinces. (TNA)
  • The government's spokesman, Suraphong Suebwonglee, denies a report by The Washington Post that Thailand has hosted one of CIA's black site prisons around the world for terrorist suspects. The Nation

  • Thailand is hosting the second Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit with more than 50 representatives from five member countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam). (NNB)
