Nova Sintra do Monte (ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Nova Sintra du Monti, Brava Creole: Nova Sintra d' Monte), is a village located in the heart of the island of Brava, Cape Verde. Tantum The area around Nova Sintra do Monte are surrounded by mountains to the west and east as well as the south and farmlands are in the valley areas of the north and southwest. Brava's tallest mountain lies directly to the east. Nova Sintra do Monte is linked with the road linking to Vila Nova Sintra and to the northern part of the island and Cachaço. Two more roads, a dirt road linking to the poorest settlements in Brava, Campo Baixo and Tantum and one linking to the island's tallest point. The living standards are one of the lowest in Cape Verde and income is nearly at the lowest range, one time, there were no money until the late-20th century. Until the late-20th century, residents lived in small mud and brick made houses. The village is in the island's middle class. Much of the population are farmers and are based in agriculture where banana plantations, pineapple and other crops are common. However, much of the needy materials comes from the island capital and the diaspora. But for other needs, electricity, communications and appliances are partially available in the area as well as phone lines. It serves the necessities of the poorer south of the island.
