Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League

The Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League is an amateur baseball league located in Nova Scotia. The league is the highest level of amateur baseball in the province, it is for players 18 and over. The league champion traditionally represents Nova Scotia at the following years Canadian Senior Baseball Championships (the Nationals are in August while league playoffs are in September). An exception was in 2005 when the league sent an all-star team to the Nationals.

Major Leaguer Matt Stairs was NSSBL MVP in 1987 and 1988, playing with Fredericton.
[edit] Controversy
In July 2007, Cecil Wright, head coach of the Halifax Pelham Canadians of the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League, was suspended three games following an incident in an inter-league game against the Saint John Alpines on July 14th.
Wright received the suspension for bumping and verbally abusing an umpire and two additional games because of the severity of the verbal abuse.

Starting in 2007, the league will play a Maritime championship series against the winner of the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League.
