Highway 113 is a proposed freeway in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
A focus report on the highway's construction was submitted by the provincial department of Transportation and Public Works on March 31, 2006 and planning has begun with the government purchasing land required for the right of way.
Construction of Highway 113 would be a benefit to the South Shore region of Nova Scotia since communities in that area would become approximately 13 km closer by road to markets in New Brunswick and the rest of Canada as well as the US.
It should be noted that there is significant local opposition to the construction of Highway 113 as it would also benefit suburban commuters in low density upscale housing developments, as well as cross the edge of a pristine wilderness area criss-crossed by lakes and wetlands, however the Highway may act as a buffer between the wilderness area and residential development.
The proposed highway would connect Highway 102 and Highway 103, bypassing the Hammonds Plains region west of Halifax. The highway would be 9.9 kilometres in length.
