History
  • Qais and Yaman, the two large political parties/movements in 19th and early 20th century in Palestine. See under Husayni and Palestinian_costumes. The Khalidis led the Qais faction and the Husaynis the Yamani faction. In many/most articles on WP Qais and Yaman direct to articles which are hardly relevant! The Arabian tribe the Qais in year 600-700 has not much to do with the Palesinian 19th century political party/movement... An alternative would be to expand the Qais/Yaman articles, to include a section on Palestinian 19.th cent. politics. Regards, Huldra (talk) 07:43, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] January 2008

  • January 6 Please place Palestinian Fedayeen on your watchlists. I have added a great deal of reliably sourced and attributed additions there that is being deleted en masse by an adversarial editor on an extremely non-specific basis. Your comments and assistance in reviewing the material in question for WP:NPOV would be appreciated. Tiamut 17:38, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
  • January 15 Bethlehem is undergoing GA review and Palestinian Fedayeen has been selected for candidacy of the Collaboration of the Week. Please vote whether you support the nomination. --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:36, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
  • January 22. Following the recent ArbCom case, we've set up a new WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration. While the WikiProject is still developing, our goals are to promote a more hospitable editing environment for Israeli-Palestinian topics; quiet the battleground among editors; help prevent or resolve POV disputes; and mobilize Project members to work together to improve articles. We'd like to see a broad range of participation from WIkipedia editors, from all points of view and from various editing and admin interests. So, please join this WikiProject as a member and help it make a difference with the articles in this topic area. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for the WikiProject, too. Thanks very much. HG | Talk 02:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
  • January 26 George Habash died today, so everyone watch for any vandalism, there's been several incidents. --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:01, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

References to indigenous Arab citizens of Israel should include some use of the term "Palestinian," as in "Palestinian citizens of Israel" or "Palestinian Israelis." This is because polls show that "Palestinian" is the primary self-identification of a majority or plurality of Palestinian Israelis.[2][3][4][5] This is underscored by the fact that: "Virtually all political parties, movements and non-governmental organisations from within the [Israeli] Arab community use the word 'Palestinian' somewhere in their description – at times failing to make any reference to Israel."[6] This style has also been adopted, informally at least, by major news organizations such as the BBC, e.g. "There are about 1.2 million Palestinians living in Israel who are Israeli citizens."[7][8][9]

  • May 21 I hope it is not considered canvassing for me to mention here that for a few weeks now there has been a discussion concerning changing the "Arab Israeli" category to "Arab Citizens of Israel" and vice versa. see: [2] LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 23:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay, we're making progress... now they've moved on from outright claiming that Corrie supported terrorism to clearly implying that Corrie supported terror. At this rate we'll have NPOV in only, oh, six months. <eleland/talkedits> 10:25, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
I wikilnked it and added that he was a Palestinian born in Jerusalem. I also converted the sources into footnotes and some other ref work.

[edit] June 2008

  • June 9: First: I'd like to let you know that we succeeded in changing the "Arab Israelis" category to "Arab citizens of Israel" after a long discussion and pretty dogged opposition. "Bedouin Israelis" and "Arab Israeli politicians" still need to be addressed for consistency.

Second: Today, upon re-organizing the "Ethnic and religious groupings" section, I 'discovered' that the descriptions of each population is limited to: 1. Their birth rates; 2. Their military service. It is vital that these sections, especially the Muslim and Christian sections, not limit their definition to such a very narrow scope. What is greatly needed: 1. A few sentences about Muslim and Christian locales/a BRIEF history; 2. A few sentences about prominent Muslim and Christian community figures and institutions. Without this information, clearly this section purely presents the definition of Muslims and Christians in Israel from a State demographic/military perspective, with hardly any mention of the perspective of Muslims and Christians about their communities. I am not very informed about the above 2 points (those in need of insertion). I invite those who do know, to add the missing context. Thanks, LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 04:59, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

  • June 10: The Khalil al-Sakakini article has become a virtual "Attack"-piece. Much "undue"-weight, etc. Please take a look. Regards, Huldra (talk) 01:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
