If no one has a problem with it, I'm going to expand this template to all of the football seasons mentioned on it. Many other templates (see {{NittanyLionsFootballTeams}} and {{LSUFootballSeasons}}) have all of the years and also have a table at the bottom listing national championships and perfect seasons. I plan to follow the Penn State one mostly, with links from the years that don't have articles to the main Notre Dame Fighting Irish football page in the appropriate sections and link the others that do have articles to that page (as is done now). I think though, the best way to do the national championships and perfect seasons, is to make links to articles that would be red links (for example 1988), I feel this would encourage someone to start the articles of these (somewhat) important teams. So if no one objects I'll be working on that and will change this in the next few days, hopefully. Phydend 17:32, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well I'm changing it since no one objected. I'm sure now that people will at least notice as the template is on a few pages. If anyone objects feel free to revert and we can have a discussion here, and also if anyone thinks the template should be more like the LSU one (red links for all of the years instead of a piped link to a section on the main football page) then that's easily changed and I'll do it if someone wants it done but doesn't want to do it. Also, on the list for national championships, I know Notre Dame doesn't recognize two of them, but they are listed on wikipedia's page NCAA Division I-A national football championship. I don't care either way, but if someone thinks strongly one way or the other, or some sort of precedent is set in another article, you can change it or at least talk about it here. - I do a lot of work on the LSU stuff, including the template in question. I think the way you have the Notre Dame template is fine. As for the red links on LSU's template, well, that will get fixed as time goes on. I will be documenting the seasons as soon as possible. I don't want to just link them all to the main LSU football page just for the sake of it because every time I see the red links I think "Oh, I need to work on that" so it acts as a reminder. And since football season is starting, I'll be working on more football articles now. Seancp 11:57, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was sure someone was working on (or would eventually be working on) the LSU seasons. I, at some point, plan to make a lot of the Notre Dame seasons, so I might eventually change them to red links to see if others would work on them and for the same reason to remind me to work on them too. I've been working on different teams, trying to expand and cleanup their season articles lately and when I'm done with my "To-Do" list I made I'm planning on working on the ND teams again, so at that point, when a few of the articles are made, I think I'll change them to red links.
