Talk:Notable Suikoden characters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Page Title.
I think that non-SoD can be made clear through piping of links and a reference at the top. Generally, it looks very bad to have the page Title include abbreviations haphazardly- "non-SoD" might be better, but still, meh. Notable Suikoden characters piped to Notable Suikoden Characters (non-SoD) would seem better, to make it clear what's happening. I also put that reference at the top of the page. If we absolutely direly must reference this in the title, may I suggest "Other notable Suikoden characters"? But I think this is enough to make it obvious what's happening, since the main way people will find their way to this page is through the Suiko-series template, and that now has a piped "non-SoD" reference in it. [edit] Spoilers, Leknaat, etc.
I tried to make it so that the references to Leknaat are relevant to the particular game.
As for Lymsleia, she's referred to only as that in the game ("Falenas" is out-of-game material) and that change made it into a red-link away from where the actual article was.
A note on spoilers. I think that mentioning the Godwin faction is generally a spoiler, since it's not at all clear that they are "the bad guy" at the beginning of the game. So I'd be against saying things like "a Godwin loyalist." That said, things like Alenia having a hugely obvious crush on Gizel are pretty clear right from the onset, so that's fair game, as is Ferid being from the Island Nations as well as being King.
The biggest spoiler, alas, is that Sialeeds is on the list at all rather than being a Star of Destiny. Don't know what's to be done about that, alas, aside from maybe just link her from other articles and the Suikoden V article.SnowFire 19:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with you fully for the most part, but I have to add that there's not much that can be done Sialeeds in the Suikoden V part of the list. She isn't a SoD and in order to make this list complete she needs to be there. However, the specifics around her not being featured in the SoD could just as well be due to some other event than betrayal, like death or just permanent departure. [edit] Page Subject
When I created this page I meant for it to just feature those character that was feature in a main series but wasn't a Stars of Destiny. Since this omitted any character exclusive to the spin-off games I decided to also add the Other Characters page for those characters aswell as those just featured in the expanded universe. Now some of the Suikoden Tactics characters has in fact been added here. If staying true to my initial idea, since Suikoden Tactics is one of the spin-offs, those characters doesn't belong here but instead should be moved into the Other Characters page. However, I'm not gonna do anything right now cause I'd like to know how other people feel about this arragement. What do people prefer? Here or in the other page? (Djungelurban 01:44, 26 June 2006 (UTC))
- I'd be fine with just merging the pages together. I don't know if there's enough information to qualify for three pages; we can always split the "Notable characters" page if it gets too big. SnowFire 03:55, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Although on second thought- how many characters are there for Tactics? If there are 108, then maybe another page is necessary after all. SnowFire 20:09, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Nope, there were no gathering of stars involved with the events of Suikoden Tactics. Or sure, indirectly there were, but Suikoden IV covers that event pretty well. There can only be gathering at the same time. And since Suikoden Tactics covers events before, during and after Suikoden IV it can't have its own gathering. And ignoring the Suikoden mythos part of it, the 108 SoD thing is only a feature in the main series. (Djungelurban 23:46, 9 July 2006 (UTC))
Considering the merge request and the tininess of the Other Characters page, I have been bold and merged the pages. If this article ever expands to need it again, it can always be remade. SnowFire 05:24, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
