[edit] May-Present
Forest have begun preparing for the 2008-09 season with the release of three players: Kris Commons, Felix Bastians and Alan Power. The club offered six players new contracts: Sammy Clingan, Dale Roberts, Paddy Gamble, Shane Redmond, Hamza Bencherif and Joe Heath. [1] The Reds have signed one player so far this summer, with the capture of striker Robert Earnshaw from Derby in a £2.65million deal. [2] The club have also sold Matt Lockwood to Colchester United for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £100,000, and are believed to have accepted a bid from Egyptian club El Zamalek for striker Junior Agogo. [3] Manager Colin Calderwood has stressed the need to sign a further four or five players this summer, in order to mount a promotion challenge in the Football League Championship, after three years in Football League One. [4] Despite this, Calderwood has said that the youngsters in the team will be given a chance to impress next season. [5]
