NDtv, or Notre Dame Television is a student television station funded by the University of Notre Dame that airs on Notre Dame campus cable channel 53. It broadcasts 24 hours and is entirely student-run.
[edit] History
NDtv was started in 2002 by then-student Lance Johnson as a biweekly cable-access show known as New Dimension Television. In 2003, NDtv became an official student group known as Notre Dame Television. In 2004, the show split into two separate shows - NDtv News, and The Mike Peterson Show, a talk and sketch comedy program. On September 20th, 2006, NDtv went on the air 24 hours on channel 53 as part of the new campus cable system. The number of shows has steadily increased over the years from one to seven.
[edit] Shows
The current show lineup on NDtv consists of a News and Sports progam, an improvisational comedy program, a talk and sketch comedy program, a mockumentary sitcom, a movie review show, a debate show, and an interview show. The shows typically air new episodes either weekly or biweekly.
One notable show on air on NDtv was The Mike Peterson Show. Often described as the inevitable cross-breeding of SNL with Conan (with the whole greater than the sum of its parts), the show had a cult following and went on with great success until the graduation of the host in 2007. The Mike Peterson show spawned Late Night ND.
