Notre Dame Regional Secondary

Notre Dame Regional Secondary (referred to informally as ND) is an Catholic secondary school (8-12) located in the Renfrew neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A co-ed school with a student body of about 600 students. The school participates in sporting events under the name of the "Jugglers".

In the 1950s, under the invitation of Archbishop Duke, The Sisters of Charity of Halifax accepted the challenge, to help finance a highschool for the education of Catholic children in East Vancouver and Burnaby, and in 1953 Notre Dame Regional Secondary opened its doors for the first time.

Notre Dame Regional Secondary is classified as a Group 1 school under British Columbia's Independent School Act. It receives 50% funding from the Ministry of Education.

Notre Dame ranks well by the Fraser Institute. In 2006, it's ranked 72nd out of 291 Vancouver, lower mainland schools. 98% of the students graduate and with 80%+ of those students going on to study at colleges & universities across the country. Provincial exam averages exceeds Provincial norms and are higher then CISVA & Independent school averages.

The Notre Dame Jugglers competes in many sports, including Volleyball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Football, Wrestling, Basketball, Track & Field, Tennis & Golf.

The football program has traditionally rank among the top teams in British Columbia.

  • Shrine Bowl (pre 1975) Provincial Championships: Won 6 of 7 appearances
  • Frank Gnup (post 1975) "AAA" Provincial Championships: Won 8 of 11 appearances

Recently, ND has gone on to win high school championships in Soccer & Volleyball. During the month of December, Notre Dame hosts the Christmas Classic Basketball Tournament in honour of the story of “The Juggler”.

Notre Dame provides students with a verity of performing & non-performing arts. This includes Art, Photography, Visual Arts, Band, Stage Craft, Theater, Dance Squad, Show Choir & Choir.

The Theater has traditionally put on great productions that have been a source of entertainment for the community and raised revenue for the Performing Arts at ND.

Aside from the students of the Principal's List & Honour Roll, there is also the Ushers, Improv, Ski & Snowboard, Score-keepers, Pro-Life, Sacristy, Grad Committee, Newspaper, Legion of Mary, & Student Council.

Notre Dame is one of two Vancouver, Eastside Catholic highschools; the other being St. Patrick's Regional Secondary.

Vancouver College & Little Flower Academy are the two Vancouver Westside Catholic highschools.

In 2006, Vancouver City Council granted Notre Dame the right to build a new school facility on the old football practice field. Upon completion, the old school facilities will be torn down for the creation of a new football field. The theater, lunch & gym facilities will remain intact.
