Notre Dame High School is an all-girls' Roman Catholic comprehensive school situated in Elephant and Castle, in south London in the UK. Girls attend the school from ages 11-16. The Headteacher is Sister Anne Marie Niblock, SND. Previous Headteachers include Sister Myra Poole, SND and Sister Rosemary O'Callaghan, SND. The school was founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The school was established in 1855 and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary as a presence in Southwark. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur base their spirituality on the teachings of their Mother Foundress, Saint Julie Billiart. St Julie Billiart (canonised in 1969) wanted the goodness of God to be known thourghout the world. The Sisters are committed to the education of poor girls and stand by women who feel marginalised by society regardless of their creed, colour or religion etc. The Notre Dame Communities that serve the school are based on St George's Road and a constellation of communities based off the Old Kent Road.
The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur run other schools throughout the United Kingdom. They have two schools in Liverpool, one in Glasgow, one in Plymouth, one in Norwich and another in Leeds.
