Notoplax mariae is a species of chiton in the family Acanthochitonidae.

This species is endemic to New Zealand.

This chiton is found from low tide to depths of about 35 m, on the underside of stones on muddy substrate.

There are five radial ridges on the head valve defined by elongated beads, and smaller oval beads cover the remaining surface. The median valves are pentagon-shaped and similarly sculptured. The girdle is wide, leathery, and finely spiculose with short bristles at each sutural pore.

Coloration is either greenish-grey, or with the valves ranging from yellow to brick-red.

Length is up to 35 mm, and width up to 18 mm.
