Not eXactly C is a highlevel programming language for the Lego Mindstorm NXT. NXC which's short of Not eXactly C is based on Next Byte Codes an assembly language. NXC have a syntax like C. The IDE for NXC is the Bricx Command Center. But Reichelt Media develops a new IDE, called NXC-Develop[1] the release date is set on the 1st June.
There is also an enhanced firmware for the NXT which allows you to program with multidimensional arrays. [2]
