The song was co-written by David Jassy, Joacim Person, Niclas Molinder, Pelle Ankarberg, Ashley Tisdale and adittional vocals by Davis Jassy, produced by Twin for Redfly. It features elements of Middle Eastern music, particularly that of Indian music.
In an MTV interview in March 2007, Tisdale stated that "Not Like That" would be the third single from her album. Tisdale said that the song is about how people:
"...often see the glamorous side of this career. ...It's really saying it's not like that and I'm just the girl next door. There's always somebody who either loves you or hates you, and you just have to have a thick skin."
—Ashley Tisdale, MTV.com[2]
This song breaks away from the other three relationship and talks about her life in fame and its not as glamorous as you might think. It proves she is just a normal person who does not really care what people around her think of her. This song is also fun and very catchy. The beat starts almost Egyptian like then busts in with a killer drum and cymbals combo.[3] Currently the single was released somewhere only countries of Europe and Chile. On April 21, 2008 the song was premiered on radio airplay in Chile as third official single there, also high increase airplay in 2 days of released.
