"Not Gon' Cry" is a 1996 single by Mary J. Blige from the soundtrack to the film Waiting to Exhale. The song was written and produced by Babyface and became a major hit for Blige, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. The lyrics are inspired by Angela Bassett's character, a frustrated woman abandoned by her philandering husband, in the movie. The music video features clips from the film and was directed by Wayne Maser and Elizabeth Bailey. The song was sampled in 2004 by rapper The Game for his own "Don't Need Your Love" from the album The Documentary.
