[edit] Summary

Old logo of the University of Nottingham

Copyright University of Nottingham

The university's marketing department maintains a webpage at https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/marketing/imagebank/help.php?d=3 , which states:

'The library images have either been commissioned by the University or purchased with unrestricted copyright or are available with the agreement of the image owner, so you do not need to worry about using any of these images - as long as they are used solely for University use (including promoting the University). These images must not be used to promote third parties under any circumstances. Infringement of copyright is a serious issue and may result in legal action. Where indicated in the image library, the copyright owner/photographer must be credited with the image in any publication or website where the image appears. In the case of pictures of people, these are either models or the individuals have consented to unrestricted use by the University.'

Until the rebranding in 2001, this logo was available from http://www.irisassociates.com/notts%5Fdev/downloads_fulllist.html which is covered by marketing department copyright notices.

This copyright notice suggests that the logo may be used on wikipedia, provided it is in relation to the university.
