Nostradamus is a forthcoming concept album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, focusing on the 16th century prophet Nostradamus.[1] The band's first concept album,[2] it was originally intended to be released in late 2006 before being pushed to a 2007 release,[3] and now, according to the official website, is set to be released on June 16th 2008 on Epic records.[citation needed]

Guitarist K.K. Downing revealed in a February 2007 interview with Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles that 18 tracks have been recorded with a total length of more than 90 minutes and that there is not much he would like to cut down. In November 2007, singer Rob Halford indicated that it was still undecided whether it would be a double-disc set or not. As of April 2008, it was confirmed that the album would be released as a double-CD/triple vinyl LP.[4]

Musically, the album will contain symphonic orchestrations including the use of keyboards and choirs which will be unlike anything the band have previously attempted before.[3]

In November 2007 the band began mixing the album. It is to be noted that during their summer 2008 tour, the band plans on including shows where the album is performed in its entirety.[4]

According to Billboard.com, the album will be released in Europe on June 16, 2008 and June 17th in United States. It is also revealed that three configurations of "Nostradamus" will be issued. The most common will be a regular jewel-cased double CD, but there will also be a "CD deluxe hardbound version," which features a 48-page booklet, while a "super deluxe version" will include three vinyl records (in addition to the CD deluxe packaging, plus a poster).[5]

In April 2008, the Title Track was released as a free download on Judas Priest's site through Epic Records. [6]

On May 4, 2008 the second single "Visions" released.

On June 11 and 12, 2008, the album was allowed to be streamed in it's entirety on VH1's "The Leak" website.

On June 13, 2008, Nostradamus was released in Australia.
