• Carl Abraham Pihl (pictured) (born January 16, 1825 in Stavanger, Norway, died September 14, 1897) was Norway's first railroad engineer and director.

• Gro Harlem Brundtland (pictured) (born April 20, 1939) is a Norwegian politician, diplomat, and physician, and an international leader in sustainable development and public health. She is a former Prime Minister of Norway, and has served as the Director General of the World Health Organization.
• The Battle of Dombås was fought between Norwegian Army infantry forces and German Fallschirmjäger paratroops in mid-April 1940.
• Lars Korvald (April 29, 1916 – July 4, 2006) was a Norwegian politician from the Christian Democratic Party. He was Prime Minister of Norway from 1972 to 1973, leading the cabinet that took over when Trygve Bratteli resigned in the wake of the first referendum over Norway's membership in the European Economic Community.

• Harald Tom Nesvik (born May 4, 1966 in Ålesund, Norway) is a Norwegian politician. He is a member of the Progress Party (FrP) and is perhaps most famous outside Norway for nominating Tony Blair and George W. Bush for the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.
• Einar Henry Gerhardsen (May 10, 1897 – September 19, 1987) was a Norwegian politician from the Labour Party of Norway. He was Prime Minister for three periods, 1945 - 1951, 1955 - 1963 and 1963 - 1965.
• The Norwegian Constitution Day (parade pictured) is the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday each year. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to simply as syttende mai (meaning May Seventeenth), Nasjonaldagen (The National Day) or Grunnlovsdagen (The Constitution Day), although the latter is less frequent. The day marks the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in Eidsvoll, May 17, 1814.

• Oscar Fredrik Torp (June 8, 1893 – May 1, 1958) was Prime Minister of Norway 1951 to 1955, and chairman of the Labour party (Det Norske Arbeiderparti) from 1923-1945.

• First cabinet Gerhardsen, often called the Unification Cabinet (Samlingsregjeringen), was a Norwegian government appointed to serve under Prime Minister Einar Gerhardsen between July 25 and November 5, 1945, in the aftermath of the Second World War.

• Abraham Theodor Berge (pictured) (August 20, 1851–July 10, 1936) was a Norwegian politician representing Venstre, the social liberal party, and later Frisinnede Venstre, a right-of-centre party. Born in Lyngdal in present-day Vest-Agder, he was Prime Minister of Norway from 1923 to 1924.
• John Lyng (August 22, 1905 - January 18, 1978) was a Norwegian politician from the Conservative Party. He was Prime Minister of Norway from August 28 to September 25, 1963 in a coalition government of the Conservative Party, the Center Party, the Christian Democratic Party, and the Liberal Party.

• The naval Battle of Svolder (Svold, Swold) was fought in September 999 or 1000 somewhere in the western Baltic between King Olaf Tryggvason of Norway and an alliance of his enemies.
• Kjell Magne Bondevik (pictured) (born September 3, 1947) is a Norwegian Lutheran minister and politician. He served as Prime Minister of Norway from 1997 to 2000, and from 2001 to 2005, making him Norway's longest serving non-Socialist Prime Minister since World War II.
• Johan Nygaardsvold (September 6, 1879 - March 13, 1952) was a Norwegian politician from the Labour Party. He was Prime Minister of Norway from 1935 to 1945 (from 1940 to 1945 in exile in London), as head of the cabinet Nygaardsvold.
• Haakon Lie (born September 22, 1905) is a Norwegian politician who served as party secretary for the Norwegian Labour Party from 1945 to 1969.

• Odd Nansen (December 6, 1901 – June 27, 1973) was a Norwegian architect, author, and humanitarian, credited with his humanitarian efforts on behalf of Jews in the early years of World War II and for being a founder of UNICEF.
• The pre-Christian Jul (pronounced: Yule) has survived as the Christmas holiday of Norway. The main event for Norwegians is on Julaften (Christmas Eve) on December 24th, the evening when the main feast, is served and gifts are exchanged.
