[edit] About Gimnasia's Article

Nordisk varg: hola.

Saludos --Tincho gelp (talk) 16:43, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Saludos --Tincho gelp (talk) 18:35, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Saludos --Tincho gelp (talk) 01:20, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Toronto pronunciation

I've never heard locals pronounce "Toronto" in a way that would make it sound like they're referring to this city. However, I have heard that pronunciation before. But we can't possibly fit every single pronunciation in the main article. That's what the "Name of Toronto" article is for. The fact that, as you say, only some locals pronounce it that way would indicate a minority view, and that's not appropriate for the intro of the article. Every local that I've run into (and I've lived in the GTA my whole life) pronounces it "təˈrɒnoʊ" (tuh-RON-oe). As for linking to the Name of Toronto article, it already is linked from the infobox under "Nickname". Thank you for contacting me to discuss changes instead of edit-warring like some other new users. Welcome to Wikipedia and happy editing! --Pwnage8 (talk) 18:28, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

I recommend that you post on the talk page about this to see what other editors think. --Pwnage8 (talk) 21:09, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Just a heads up that I posted on the Toronto talk page that you should add your pronunciation. It appears I was wrong. --Pwnage8 (talk) 17:47, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Copa Centenario

As the tournament has it's own article (Copa Centenario de la AFA) and is mentioned in the 1993-94 in Argentine football article, I don't really see the need to include it in the Argentine Primera overview page, being a seperate tournament after all. I definately agree that there are a lot of missing tournaments such as es:Copa Dr. Carlos Ibarguren, es:Copa Nicasio Vila and many others. Other missing items include es:Copa Lipton and es:Copa Newton and many of the Copa América editions are nothing more that stubs. I have created a lot of Seasons in Argentine football, but there are still more than 60 missing. On top of all that the transfer window is due so another 100+ players to move around and five times as many rumours to revert. It's too much EP 22:54, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Theres no need to get stroppy about it, all I object to is the claim the Gimnasia LP have won a professional league title when even the most rabid fan would accept that Copa Centenario was a one off cup tournament, not a league title. If you think stuff like Copa Jockey Club, Copa Ibaarguren, Copa Newton and Copa América are unimportant to the history of Argentine football that's fine, just don't add misinformation to the Argentine Primera article. Go ahead and mention the irregular seasons and cups in a separate section if you must, but claiming that Gimnasia LP have won any professional league titles is just plain wrong. EP 14:20, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Look I have more important things to do than argue with you, so this will be my last comment on the issue. The Primera División Argentina article is undisputably about the league championship. If the section header in the article was misleading, this is a reason to change the section header (as someone else has already done) not to add misleading information to match the inappropriate heading. Anyone who knows a little about Argentine football knows that GELP have not won a league title since 1929. The way you left the top three finishes section here implied that Gimnasia came first in the league during the professional era. This is misleading to anyone who doesn't know the facts, and inaccurate to anyone who does. Feel free to have the last word if you want. EP 13:46, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I have gone though you guys' discussion, and would like to give a suggestion. English peasant is correct that it is misleading to include the Copa Centenario de la AFA into the table. However, as it is an offically recognized championship, it is better reflected in the article. So I suggest we add a new section in the article or a note under the table to address this problem. Thus it is clear it is an offical championship though on the other hand it is not counted as a league title. Any comment? Salt (talk) 18:46, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I have added that section, so maybe you can go and give some comments. I am also going to created articles for those three official but non-regular cups, but I did not find any information on Copa Suecia. Do you have any information about this tournament? Salt (talk) 17:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gimnasia y Esgrima

--Elnegrojose (talk) 03:22, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Copa Suecia

Thanks for your help and I've created the article on Copa Suecia. I would be very grateful if you can help me to check whether the translation is correct as I can't speak Spanish. BTW, I have a question on the article. The webpage says there is no "chicos" teams winning a official title before the cup. What does it mean by "chicos teams"? Atlanta is also from Buenos Aires, so why it is a "chicos teams"?

Here is the concerned part:

Thank you very much! Salt (talk) 07:56, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
