Talk:Northern Secondary School

Do Not EDIT, The school chooses to tell the world about it, dont edit because we are slowly adding info to it
We choose to tell others what this school has, we have the right to add information, such as the teachers and courses. Wikipedia is after all a wealth of information, and information about the school is information.
You wouldn't know, you not a student at NSS. Will
I removed some POV words, though much remains. I think the only main notable part of the school, is the mildly notable alumni. NobodyFew care if the school has a "surprisingly rich culture and vigorous academic program". I suspect all schools claim the same. --rob 07:49, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
To the above comments. Please be aware, that wikipedia is not a free web host, and is not a place to promote a school. No page in wikipedia belongs to one person, or one group. Large amounts of content which is only of interest to a very small group should not be included in wikipedia. Please read WP:NOT for details of what is and is not allowed. You are more than welcome to edit/improve this or other articles, but understand all your edits will be reviewed by other editors, and you will not have any article left to you alone. Students and/or staff from NSS have no more/less right to edit this article, than anybody else. --rob 03:08, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Hi, this school is included in Wikipedia mainly because of some of it's notable alumni and programs. It is true that POV should be avoided, however, most of the edits made by people like Thievvr (sp?) include POV which are negative towards the school. Ex. the phrase "The music program is lively, despite the fact that Northern is not known for its music." clearly shows a negative attitude towards the school. It is suspected that they may be students/staff of rival institutions. --Lenev 21:18, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
- The spelling is "thivierr", and no, I did not make those changes. It was "140.180.163.212", who did it on "14 May 2005". You can see the full, and large, addition they made here. Read, and it will be obvious, that the anon editor was overwhelmingly pro-scool, and the example you gave was, when put in context, one small qualifier. You'll note from history, that my first edit, was the next one, where I added Sally Gifford to the alumni list. I had been working on her article, and when I found she went to this school, I thought to add her here, and that's why I edited this article in the first place. I challenge you to find a single unfair POV change I made to this article, and link to it. Also, my adding of two Order of Canada winners (Carnegie and Johnson) is hardly "negative". p.s. I'm far from Toronto, never heard of NSS till this year, and can assure you that I'm not with a "rival" institution. This is a public school, and I doubt it even has a "rival" institution. --rob 23:07, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

- It does have rivls...just no one cares too much. Trust me, I am a former student. By the way, I thought there was a big list of former alumni that I cannot see anymore. Nlsanand 18:13, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- I put it back. Everybody should take a read, and double check if anything is still missing. I think somebody's browser had a glitch, which caused some text to be lost unintentionally (the editor responsible is not a vandal, so it was probably just software). --Rob 00:11, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

I added in the trivia section with an interesting tidbit. -John John Newton 21:44, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removed Plays
I removed the reference to the plays at Northern. I attended in 2004-2006 and the plays weren't that big within the school. They are hardly notable. Also it skipped the 2005 production. --J2000ca 06:40, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removed School Council Info and vandalism
The school council at NSS is not complicated to the point of noteworthiness. Also removed what was basically vandalism -- just slander towards the school (vermin infestations, etc.) and reworded part of the football section for grammar. I strongly recommend that any info about the school council remains out of the article, seeing as it is continually replaced with increasingly irellevant information. Zorath 23:17, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
