[edit] Merge

As discussed in the AfD the most appropriate place for the content is to be merged the question is what article and how. Raise was either

  1. composite of the Parent Company,
  2. Regional article.

Please comment below, this is an AGF listing as there was an equal distribution of delete opinions I closed the AfD as no consensus because it was unclear as to where to merge the content. Gnangarra 14:27, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just found this... I thought it was what would end up happening but got busy elsewhere.
My opinion as from the afd is Cumberland Newspapers. This is a combination of the above suggestions: "NSW regional newspapers owned by News Limited". I think we would find reliable sources for such a series of articles, I don't think there would be excessive duplication (outside a template) between the following series:

This would allow the state-based WikiProjects to have "ownership" of each article, so they would probably be well maintained. Benefits

  1. It provides a reasonable set of articles for redirection from each community newspaper article.
  2. If any individual community newspaper section becomes large enough then it would clearly be able to assert individual notability and be split out to a daughter article, with a main article link.
  3. Each group is small enough that it could reasonably cover any individual newspaper that has up to 3-4 references, so that the "notability" threshold prior to creating a new article for a single newspaper would be kept high enough to withstand "concerted debate" at AfD.

Any alternative suggestions? I am happy to take what we have (2 articles) and run up the Cumberland Newspaper Group or similiarly named / scoped article.Garrie 21:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Gee, must be a good idea - 2 of the above already exist, pointing to the correct "thing".Garrie 21:38, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
A flow-on suggestion is the creation of Category:News Limited Community Newspapers as a child of Category:Newspapers published in Australia.Garrie 21:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
