I've already brought this matter up in the "page history" section of the main article, but I'll mention it again here:

I have serious concerns about providing a link to a de-facto hate site from a Wikipedia page.

I don't believe that the Northern Alliance site is under a formal ban in Canada (though I could be mistaken on this point), but this doesn't change the basic principle of the matter. It's a white supremacist site, and I don't know if Wikipedia should provide an external link to it.

I recognize that there is another side to this argument (ie. interested parties should be able to consult the source), and I'm not going to remove the link a second time. My concerns, however, remain.

The Stormfront article includes a list to that page. While I agree that external links to hate sites should be discouraged in most articles, even in those where there is some "relevence" (eg Holocaust) I think they should be linked to in articles on the hate site or hate group itself. I replaced the link. I think it needs to be there because Wikipedia is a reference. I considered putting a warning alongside the link and decided that even that was inappropriate because doing so would imply that other external links don't need warnings. Clearly no endorsement of the Northern Alliance is made by Wikipedia. In the Alex Kulbashian and Richard Warman articles, there was information posted about a complaint filed by Kulbashian against Warman. The information was sourced, but removed repeatedly with the messages that "Anyone can file a complaint" and unless the complaint is actually evaluated by the human rights commission to see if it is valid, the information is abusive. As far as a criminal case is concerned, it means that the Norther Alliance is still not even under investigation. An allegation has been made. It takes the the commission agreeing to take the case to a hearing for the status to be similar to "being charged" in a criminal case.

If it is true that a complaint was filed against them then it is accurate to report that info. If the complaint is dismissed we can add that too, or remove the mention. But since previous similar complaints seem to have resulted in substantial fines, these complaints appear serious. Please don't remove sourced information. If the targets of the complaints have made statements disputing them then we can post those as rebuttals. -Will Beback 03:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
The complaints themselves have not relevant. The major problem with posting just the fact that there were complaints online is that it's just an allegation that hasn't even begun to be investigated. It's prejudicial. Whether or not it's sourced is irrelevant. The complaint has not been referred to the TRibunal. The fact of the matter is, if you look through the history of the Alex Kulbashian and Richard Warman articles, general concensus for editors was that the complaints weren't relevant until the commission had actually evaluated it. Richard Warman is no an authority figure. The fact that he filed a form with the Commission is of no consequence until the complaint has actually been looked at. 69.199.64.4 00:32, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

"Northern Alliance (White supremacist organization)" is confusing because the U.S. National Alliance is also a White supremacist organization. Note that there are many other "National Alliances" as well, National Alliance (disambiguation). I propose we move the the article to "National Alliance (Canada)". Image:Northeralliancelogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
