[edit] Mission Statement
At Norwood, we believe that productive and fulfilling lives are the result of community, school and family atmospheres that promote involvement, caring and excellence in a complex and ever-changing world. Working in collaboration with parents and community resources, we will do this by:
- Ensuring intellectual development through curriculum which emphasizes literacy, numeracy, technological skills and critical/creative thinking skills.
- Providing an opportunity for all students to realize their potential in a safe and equitable environment.
- Offering a variety of activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Preparing students to respond to change in a positive manner.
- Teaching students to work successfully both independently and in group settings.
- Providing comprehensive information on post secondary education and career opportunities.
- Fostering a love of learning as the foundation for continuous lifelong learning.
[edit] Trivia
- One of only two Single "A" schools in the KDAA.
[edit] Football
Football is one of the main sports at Norwood and is a cornerstone for the re-vamped sports program. In 2005 the Junior team won COSSA and looks to repeat the feat again in the coming 2007 season, since the team has been re-united at the Senior level. The Senior Knights could further their level of play after COSSA and could eventually play in OFSAA at the Toronto Rogers Center. The Knights play at the schools upper field with bleacher seating for about 700.
