[edit] History
It was opened in 1882, and later became the southern terminus of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line from Melton Constable. The station became well-used, even though the line did not go anywhere significant. The station was badly bombed in 1942. It was closed to passengers in the 1950s as part of the Beeching Axe.
[edit] Location
The old City Station stood by the roundabout on the inner link road which joins Barn Road with St Crispins Road, in the Anglia Square area. [1] [2] It is unrelated to Norwich City F.C. whose Carrow Road stadium is actually close to the existing Norwich Thorpe railway station.
