The Norwegian School of Management BI (Norwegian: Handelshøyskolen BI) is the largest business school in Norway and the second largest in all of Europe. BI has in total 13 campuses with the main one located in Oslo, Norway.
The Norwegian School of Management was founded in 1943 by Finn Øien. The current president is Professor Tom Colbjørnsen. Past presidents include Jørgen Randers, co-author of the Club of Rome Report Limits to Growth; Peter Lorange -- now president of IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland; Leif Frode Onarheim, a member of the Norwegian Parliament.
As of 2007 the school consists of 18,500 students. This includes 10,000 full-time students. There are 340 full-time faculty members and 800 employees altogether. BI offers a full set of programs for bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees, as well as executive education and tailor-made programs for businesses. BI has roughly 500 students in China through its' close relationship with Fudan University in Shanghai, and is also the majority shareholder of the International School of Management with around 2000 students located in Vilnius and Kaunas in Lithuania.
The school has two student organizations, one for the main campus in Oslo and one for the other campuses. The Oslo student organization is called "Studentforeningen ved Handelshøyskolen BI i Oslo" (SBIO) which translates to: "The Student Association at BI in Oslo". The other is called "BI Studentsamfunn (BIS): "BI Student Community".
The main campus in Nydalen (Oslo) is state of the art and was designed by the same architect that drew Norway's internationally renowned Gardermoen Airport.
