Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters

The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (Det Norske Videnskaps-Akademi) was founded in 1857 to "advance science and scholarship in Norway." It is currently funded by a grant from the Norwegian government as well as private contributions. It is organized into two sections: math/natural science and humanities. Governance consists of a board of nine members.
It is responsible for the administration of the Abel Prize.
