Norway selects its representative song and singer by traditional national selection called Melodi Grand Prix.
At the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, Maria was the ninth entry to sing and qualified for Saturday's final, finishing 4th. At the final she performed 25th (last) and ended 5th at the close of the voting.
