For the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, Norway entered Living my life without you, performed by Stig van Eijk. The song received 35 points, and finished 14th.
On February 27, the Norwegian final was held at the NRK studios in Oslo, and was hosted by Rune Gokstad & Øystein Bache. There were 8 songs in the final, with the winning song chosen by a mixture of televoting and an expert jury.

Håvard Grytting was a backing singer for Norway in 1998. Tor Endresen had entered the Norwegian heats on a number of occasions, and represented the country in 1997 - and finished with nul points.
