Norton Lees (grid reference SK353839) is a residential suburb in the Graves Park ward of the City of Sheffield, England located to the east of Woodseats. The area derived its name from the locally renowned 'Lees' family, a group of Music Hall entertainers who resided there, possibly as early as the late 18th century. Their tradition continues today - Norton Lees (VI) being a well respected Double Bass player, said to be living close by, in Sharrow. Origami artist, author and musician Nick Robinson is a resident.
Notable buildings in Norton Lees include Bishops' House—a half-timbered house that was built c. 1500—and St Paul's Church and Centre, Norton Lees, Sheffield, the parish church that was originally built in 1875-7 and extended in 1935, the octagonal spire of which is visible from more than 3 miles away.
Below Newfield school is the former site of Lees Hall, built in the 1400s, but demolished by the local council in the 1950s. The orchard and other features can still be found.
Parks and recreation: This area includes the schools Newfield Secondary School, which is currently undergoing a well needed rebuild after many years inadequate classrooms and school facilities. Mundella Primary School is also located in the area, on Derbyshire Lane. The school boasts high SATs results and acts as a polling station during elections.
