Northwick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Northwick was a village in South Gloucestershire, England, dating back to at least the Domesday Book. Because the area was under the authority of the Bishops of Worcester, it was actually a small enclave of the county of Worcestershire surrounded by Gloucestershire -- and is shown that way on all maps prior to 1931 when all such enclaves were rationalized and included in the county of Gloucestershire. There is no village of "Northwick" today, only the estate of "Northwick Park" (the former family seat of the Rushout family, the Barons Northwick). The nearest village is Blockley. A village called Northwick can be found on the outskirts of Worcester in the heart of the Midlands.
