Northside Methodist Academy is a K-12 school located in Dothan, Alabama, on Redmond Road, started in 1975 [2]. Their mission statement is "To train students in the knowledge of God and the Christian way of life while giving every student an excellent education.[3]" There are an average 750 students at Northside, as it is a private Christian school. They are currently included in the ACEA, or the Alabama Christian Education Association [4]. Their basketball teams are extremely good under their coach, Mike Johnson [5]. The principal of the school is Mr. Gary Driver [6].

The current principal is Mr. Gary Driver [7]. He was first the high school dean, but he became the full-time principal in the 2007-2008 year.

The principal directly previous of Mr. Gary Driver of NMA was Mr. Robert Moore, who was there for over 15 years. He retired last year in his mid-seventies.

Mr. Cooper Totten was the elementary dean of students until last year when he retired.

The principal for the 2007-2008 first semester was Mr. Jim Graham [8], who had been a third grade teacher at the school. He left after only one semester.

The current pastor of the Northside Methodist Church on the NMA campus is Pastor Allen Vandenburg [9]. Vandenburg is originally from Australia and has a very noticeable accent. He was originally a janitor for the school, but he got promoted to his current pastoring job. His wife , Lynn Vandenburg, also works at the school in the bookroom and as a sectretary.

Northside's conference is the ACEA, aka the Alabama Christian Education Association [10]. NMA has most of the sports that any normal school has. Basketball is their biggest sport in terms of popularity and attendance. There is a JV boys, Girls, and varsity boys team. [11] They also have girls softball [12], boys soccer [13], track and field [14], JV girls and varsity girls volleyball [15], JV and varsity boys baseball [16], and JV and varsity girls cheerleading [17].

Northside has 9 clubs [18]. They are the computer club, the robotics lub, the government club, alpha omega, key club, yearbook, the worship class, the civitan club, and the art club. The clubs listed are the clubs that are currently meeting.

The government club is currently sponsored by Mr. Jonathan Barron, and it is his first year at Northside. Mrs. Barbara Moore was the leader of the club until she left the school at the end of the 06-07 school year. They meet every Tuesday and Wednesday after school until 3:30. They debate about different bills and go to a state competition every year [19].

Alpha Omega is an all-girls clubrun by Mrs. Pat Blackwell. They are mostly a group who do charity work. [20].

The yearbook club obviously does the work for the yearbook. It is open for anyone from 9-12 grade to apply. They call themselves Excalibur. In yearbook, you learn some things about photography, selling ads, making page layouts, and discipline [21].

The Worship class is a group of students from the 9-12 grade. They play every Friday at the chapel services as the praise and worship band and other various times of the year [22].

[edit] Junior Civitan Club

The Junior Civitan Club is run by Mrs. Ann Landers. It is only open to juniors and seniors. They do various things to serve their school and their community, such as help out at the Boys Club and Salvation Army projects [23].

The Northside art club is sponsored by Mrs. Mary Irwin. In the club, students display their artistic talents through many types of artwork. The club is open to anyone from 7-12 grade [24].

Northside has some after school activities on and off campus. They have a childcare, where anyone can go to if they do not yet have a ride.
