Northop Hall is a large village (population 1,665 in 2001) near Mold, in Flintshire, Wales. The village is largely residential in character. The village has two pubs, the Boar's Head (Top Monkey) & the Black Lion (Bottom Monkey) and is near the A55 road. There are active cricket and hockey clubs.
The hall that gives the village its name was a 13th century manor house which was located in close proximity to Smithy Lane and the Mold to Connah's Quay road. It was the most important house in Northop Parish. It was occupied by local aristocracy including the Evans family, ancestors of author George Eliot. A new building was built on the site in 1872, and is now a hotel[1].
