[edit] School History

Northland Primary School started on January 2, 1988, a year after its completion. The first batch of students constituted elementary grades one to five. The school was officially opened by Mr Ng Pock Too, Member of Parliament for Nee Soon Central Constituency, on 17th April 1990.

Northland Primary School has shown above average scores on the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) every year.

The Programme for Rebuilding and IMproving Existing schools (PRIME) to upgrade the school started in 1999 and was completed in 2002. All the facilities within the school were upgraded and two new buildings were constructed.

[edit] CCAs

In year 2002, a special CCA called Spin (Society for Pupils's Innovation & Entrepreneurship) was established to promote entrepreneurship among pupils in the Yishun schools. The members of Spin mostly sold second-hand items such as stationery and photo frames.

In 2003, Northland launched its "applause" series of musical productions by students. The first event, held in the school hall, was so well attended in 2005 that in 2007, it was decided to move the show to a larger venue at the Republic Polythenic. First class ticket home, held on the 20th July 2007 was sold out.

The uniform consist of a collared white button-up shirt/blouse and sky-blue shorts/skirt depending on gender. There is a pocket on the left breast. The school crest is sewn upon the breast pocket. Coloured nametags depending on level are to be sewn just above said pocket. Each new batch are given a colour(usually the colour of the previous year's graduating batch) for their personalised nametags which move up the grades with them for all six years in the school. The nametag scheme was introduced in 1998.

The PE(Physical Education) Uniform consist of a T-shirt with the Northland Crest sewn on the left breast and blue shorts with the crest sewn on the lower right of the shorts, the PE T-shirt was changed in 2004 to a blue collared polo T-shirt with the crest in its original place.

Students are required to wear the school tie (sky blue with patterns of the crest) on assembly days. Prefects(student leaders) have to wear a dark blue tie every day. Leaders among prefects are also required to wear a dark blue vest. Only white shoes are to be worn to school.
