Country Liberal win |
A general election was held in the Northern Territory on Saturday October 27, 1990, and was won by the incumbent Country Liberal Party (CLP) under Chief Minister Marshall Perron.
Despite a swing in the CLP's favour, the government lost two seats—again not sufficient to cost the government its majority in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly. Though the Northern Territory Nationals again contested the election, they lost much of their vote, along with both their assembly seats. The 1990 election also saw the Australian Greens emerge as a force in territory politics, with 3.05% of the vote—fourth behind the CLP, Labor and the Nationals.
