The Northern Pride RLFC is a rugby league club founded in 2007 based in Cairns, Queensland. They, along with the Mackay Cutters (whom they will be playing their debut game against), will be one of two expansion teams for the 2008 season of the Queensland Cup. Their homeground is Barlow Park in Cairns. The Northern Pride will act as a feeder club to the North Queensland Cowboys, a team in the National Rugby League competition. The Northern Pride is to be coached by former NRL player Andrew Dunemann with David Maiden and Troy Cummings appointed as Assistant coaches and captained by former North Queensland Cowboys player Chris Sheppard for the 2008 debut season. CRGT (Cairns Regional Group Training will be the teams Major Sponsor for 2008. Some of the players will include former NRL players, QRL players and local players from the Cairns Region
