[edit] Promotion and relegation

In the seventeenth season of the Northern Premier League Stafford Rangers (as champions) were automatically promoted to the Alliance Premier League; they replaced relegated Gateshead, who swapped Leagues with them. Meanwhile, Grantham moved to the Southern League Midland Division at the end of the season and were replaced by newly-admitted Caernarfon Town.
