Northern Exposure is a supplementary video blog for North Tonight, STV North's regional news programme for northern Scotland. The first blog was produced on Tuesday June 19, 2007 and as of June 13, 2008, 119 episodes have been made available.

The blog is presented and produced by Norman Macleod, Andrea Brymer, Chris Harvey, Kirstin Gove and Louise Steel from STV North's studios in West Tullos, Aberdeen on a regular basis.

Northern Exposure has also been guest presented/produced by Tayside news presenter/reporter Susan Nicholson and Highlands correspondent Nicola McAlley for special episodes from STV's studios in Dundee and Inverness. Reporter Claire Stewart and weather forecaster Seán Batty have also presented the blog.

[edit] About the blog

Northern Exposure takes a mostly light-hearted look behind-the-scenes at North Tonight, previews some of the stories to be featured in the main 6pm programme and includes interviews with production staff.

[edit] Ask Kirstin

Since 25 September 2007, the blogs presented by Kirstin Gove have been given over to a popular feature series unofficially entitled Ask Kirstin, in which Kirstin answers questions about STV North (previously Grampian Television) from the website's forums and features clips from the archives.

Its success has led to the launch of White, Not MacKay, a similar feature series on sister video blog The Real MacKay presented and produced by Scotland Today newsreader Louise White on Fridays. The first episode was uploaded on 11 January 2008.
