The Northern Cancer Research Foundation- Northwest Region (NCRF) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1994, situated in Thunder Bay ON, Canada, whose aim is to provide funding towards cancer care initiatives of which, 100% of funds raised remain in Northwestern Ontario.
The NCRF funds three major areas:
- Research initiatives by local scientists
- Improving patient care through the purchase of leading technology and medical equipment
- Education and awareness for patients, families and health professionals
To date, millions of dollars have been granted towards assisting Regional Cancer Care, the regional cancer centre, in providing closer-to-home care and the newest treatment methods, a world-class research lab, and countless other initiatives that improve the level of cancer care in Thunder Bay and the region. The NCRF is not government funded, all of the money granted is directly a result of numerous fundraisers hosted around the region by dedicated volunteers, and through generous donations.
