Macroglossus minimus nanus or the Northern Blossom-bat is a fruit bat in the family Pteropodidae. M.minimus is one of the smallest species in the family with an average length of 60 - 85 mm. They have a reddish brown colouring with relatively long hair compared to the other species. The hair on the abdomen is a lighter colour and there is a dark brown stripe running bilaterally down the top of the head and back. it is one of 8 Pteropodidaes in Australia
