Northeastern statistical region

The Republic of Macedonia is divided in eight arbitrary statistical regions. Northeastern, located in the northeastern part of the country, borders Serbia and Bulgaria. Internally, it borders Skopje and Eastern statistical regions.

Northeastern statistical region is divided into six municipalities:

• Kriva Palanka
• Kumanovo
• Lipkovo
• Rankovce
• Staro Nagoričane

The current population of the Northeastern Statistical Region is 173, 814 citizens, according to the last population census in 2002.
