The district’s mission is “to provide a teaching, learning, and caring environment where all children benefit from a commitment to excellence.” Their goal is to provide students with a strong academic and social-emotional foundation, as well as an appreciation for the value of learning and of helping others. District 28 students consistently score well above average on local and state assessments, and we are always looking to improve, whether we are implementing a comprehensive literacy initiative or updating our social studies curriculum to emphasize thematic critical thinking. School District 28 is committed to enhancing and supporting student growth and development by providing challenging and diversified experiences for all students.
Students have the opportunity to participate in an elementary school physical education program which last year earned a Blue Ribbon Program award from the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance. District 28’s band, orchestra and choir programs have been recognized locally, regionally and statewide with superior ratings.
