Northbrook College

Northbrook College is a further education college and principal provider of work-related Further Education in an area centred on Worthing, as well as encompassing the nearby towns of Littlehampton, Shoreham and Southwick.

Northbrook was previously WSCD (West Sussex College of Design) but amalgamated with the Worthing Technical College in 1985-86. Whilst it retained its Worthing central site in Union Place, WSCC West Sussex County Council closed the workshops in Homefield Place which was knocked down and now is the Environment Agency HQ for the area.

The college is the largest provider of Higher Education for the creative and cultural industries in West Sussex. It is also a significant provider of Higher Education in a variety of other work-related areas. The College, additionally, has contracts for Apprenticeship training, Adult and Community Learning and provides courses in most work-related areas as well as those for personal development. It also runs courses at HMP Ford.

Also home to the Southern Theatre Arts Centre, providing theatre courses ranging from National Diplomas to Foundation Degrees and BA Hons (Which with all its other higher education courses are affiliated with the University of Brighton). Its venue, The Northbrook Theatre, is a professional Theatre that regularly hosts touring companies from around the UK and Europe. Productions in Recent years include Wild Party, Chess, The Blue Room, Angles in America, Metamorphosis and West.

Well-known alumni of the college include singer Leo Sayer (who attended the Art College), the cartoonist and creator of Tank Girl, Jamie Hewlett, electronic music Band Sunset Strippers and automotive designer Tony Pettman.
