Northampton High School is located in Northampton, Massachusetts just 20 miles from Springfield, Massachusetts. Northampton High School is an anomaly among public high schools. Synthesizing traditional high school culture with a progressive and alternative sensibility, the school is a party in all aspects. Highlights include the history department, the girls basketball team, and an eternal love for human dignity. As the generally spirited NHS students will attest to, there is nothing like the "Blue and Gold....Blue and Gold. BLUE and GOLD." (thank you to the NHS Cheerleaders for the lease of the phrase.)NHS is a very open school where the students try to make everyone feel welcome. The students are exposed to real life situations and learn how to get through obstacles (with help from friends of course!). The students (for the most part) are nice, relatively responsible, and never turn down the chance to help their community. The sports teams are all incredible. Some of the best ones this year are the Swimming and Diving team, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Football. The Diving team is doing especially well and the girls and boys swim teams (with much help from the divers) have gone undefeated. The Band continues to do well also, taking gold at their last few competitions as well as an award for best section for the percussionists.
