[edit] The Dome Roundabout
The Dome Roundabout links the A41 with Watford. It also links Watford to the M1, M25 and North Circular Road. In the opposite direction, heading north east, lies St Albans. It houses a large supermarket and a hypermarket, both with large catchment areas. Also on the roundabout are 3 petrol stations. There used to be 4 until one closed down due to competition from the others. Garston Fire Station is also situated by the roundabout.
[edit] Shops
St Albans Road and its environs serves the community well through a variety of retail and leisure outlets - for instance newsagents, public houses, restaurants and a Post Office.
[edit] Landmarks
There are many buildings which form the skyline of North Watford. If one looks southwards towards Watford, the Harlequin Shopping Centre, the YMCA Tower and various residential newly built tower blocks are apparent.
When looking towards Garston one notices the Old Odhams Building and the Tower and Green Castle structure on top. You also notice the twin towerblocks in the Meriden Housing Estate. It is notable for having an excellent local history group. See the Facebook group called North Watford for more details with its 2008 plans for a book on local history, Family history group, history walk in September 2008 and organised talks from speakers. It also is determined to ensure that local historic buildings are not demolished so anyone who cares about North Watford -please join.
