The North Texas Mean Green football team represents the University of North Texas in NCAA Division I-FBS (formerly known as I-A) college football, competing as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. The Mean Green has several conference championships; most recently, four consecutive Sun Belt Conference championships.[1]

Since 1951, the North Texas Mean Green has played its home games at Fouts Field, a stadium with a current capacity of 30,500 on the campus in Denton, Texas. Plans for a new stadium located within the Mean Green Village are in the works but no start date for construction has been made.

On December 12, 2006, Todd Dodge was announced as the next Mean Green head coach, replacing former coach Darrell Dickey, who was fired on November 8 after going 3-9 in 2006. Dodge is regarded as one of the nation’s most successful high school football coaches amassing a 98-11 record overall at Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas. Dodge was named National Coach of the Year by Schutt Sports in 2004 and by USA Today in 2005.
